An adventure that will not soon be forgotten. There are exactly 5937 kilometer (3689 miles) between Lausanne and Boston. That's a long way to go for some pancakes! The idea for the trip all started with a conversation between Tina and Bob. Tina wanted to visit the swiss family Blanchette and the swiss family Blanchette wanted their kid to improve his English. Matthew Daigle came for a visit on his way back to Germany.
From his e-mail to me on the 28th of December 2008 ... Hey Bob, I am your cousin Dawn Zuidema (maiden name) Daigle's son. I am not sure if anyone has mentioned me to you but I am an active duty Army officer stationed in Vilseck, Germany (about one hour east of Nürnberg). I had always intended to at one point come visit as you are the only family I am aware of on the whole continent, haha. Right now I am on leave and did I mini tour of France, England, and flew to the US for Christmas. Some friends from France recently invited my last minute to go to Geneva with them for New Years Eve and I couldn't help but think of you as you live just outside the city. I will be in and around Geneva from the evening of 29DEC08 to sometime around 02-03JAN09. If you wanted to meet in the city you can email me back and let me know what day or time would be best for you, I will try to check my email once a day to see if you have replied. I fly out of Boston tonight so the next time I will check my email is the possibly not until the night of the 29th. Also, I was told that your birthday is New Year Eve, so regardless - Happy Birthday! - Matthew Daigle You can follow the rest of the e-mail thread here. |
